Shortly after the fire, I received an e-mail from Robin Harris of Alaskan Airlines. As a leader of her local
4-H club, they wanted to help out the 4-H clubs in the areas ravaged by the Witch fire. Their members went throughout their community and got donations from the local residents and businesses.
Then they took the time to put together decorated bags of goodies for the 4-H'ers and other horse owners here in San Diego county.
We received the bags and delivered them to not only the local 4-H club, but to those who were getting hay deliveries. Each of the bags included:
To keep the holiday spirit in a time so difficult for so many, the club included a candy cane - a human treat and a bag of horse treats.
This wonderful gesture brought tears to the eyes of the receivers. A surprise gift sent with love and affection from kids far away.
On behalf of all the gift bag recipients I want to extend our thanks and also a big hug to each of you.

Pictures above and below are of the Horse-N-Around club of Eatonville, Washington, gathering donations to send to the 4-H'ers here in Ramona and parts of fire ravaged San Diego.
Below, Ramona's local 4-H club meets to receive the wonderful gift bags sent from all the way from Washington.
On the left is Christine Griffin and the right is Cindy Ziegler, club leader and the very excited members of the local 4-H club. The bags were delivered a week before Christmas so the time made for a very festive evening.
I want to especially thank Robin Harris for coordinating this generous project. Kids helping Kids, what a wonderful ethic to teach us all and so much a part of what is to be learned as a
4-H member. No matter where you live.
