John saw this site and emailed me one day asking if he could come up and volunteer to work with some of the horses. Since many of these horses are rescues we welcome volunteers help as much as we can get it.
I showed John around and introduced him to the horses and explained that there was one horse I just hadn't had much time to get to. That was Shelby.
"Boy, she's a tough one", he said, but I'd like to work with her. And work with her he did. She fell in love with John and tested his meddle at the same time.
John has attended many clinics and read lots of trainers materials and worked with lots of horses. He just has that special nack of communicating with horses.
He's a born instructor too. It's amazing to watch him work with the horses - well, he loves an audience too....
Working with the horses is John's mental therapy and side job from his 40+ hour week working for Teledyne as a draftsman.
John is available to come to you and work out specific issues like trailer loading, working with the feet, tyeing, other ground manner issues too. He works on a Fee for Service basis, but is very reasonable and gets the job done.

We have been blessed to have John work with the following horses here at our facility:
The queen - Shelby

Free Spirit
Harley

and he continued working with many of them after they went to their adopted homes.

When I was younger all I wanted to do was ride. Now I am older and much wiser. Well maybe not... I do have a much higher level of patience that makes dealing with these icons of American history so fulfilling. It's one thing to work with a horse that has born and raised domestically. It's something totally different when they have been born and raised in the wild and than gathered to be trained. The reward is much greater from the wild ones....
I use techniques from several of the well known clinicians, John Lyons, Monty Roberts, Clinton Anderson and my grandfather's horse sense.
My day job is Equine Dentistry so I do look every gift horse in the mouth - but only to see if they need dental work.
I have also incorporated Cranio Sacral Therapy in my services which is a great way to help horses with many different issues - their riders too.
My joy is working with horses. Helping them be the best they can - helps me to be the best I can.
I'll get them gentle for you and then you can train them your way!
